To: MHS Class of 1956
From: Scholarship Committee of 1956 (Fred Brown, Loryann Eis, Lucy Hahn, Cynthia Maeglin, Margaret Tiecke,
and Nancy Tietge)
The name of the annual scholarship would simply be "The Class of 1956 Scholarship".
As a member of the great Class of 1956, you have the opportunity to embark on a new venture that will provide
scholarships to future students for years to come. Our class can establish a scholarship in cooperation with
the Muscatine Community School Foundation. We need to raise at least $10,000 in order to give one $500
scholarship annually.
The criteria will be: One $500 award to be used at any accredited college, junior college, or technical
school. Grade point average is not a critical consideration, but the applicant should show strong motivation
and work ethic.
Selection: The high school scholarship selection committee will be designated to select the person who meets
the criteria for this scholarship.
Funds are donated to the Muscatine School Scholarship Foundation with the funds invested perpetually and the
interest used to make the annual awards as per the criteria established by the organization. Remember, it is
tax deductible and if additional money is received, we may be able to give a larger scholarship or maybe two.
Please make checks payable to the: Muscatine Community School District Foundation
2900 Mulberry Ave.
Muscatine, IA 52761
Please indicate that it is for "The Class of '56 Scholarship.
If you have questions, you may contact Mr. Chuck Van Hecke, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at
the address above or call 563-263-7223. You may also contact one of the committee members if you have
questions that we could answer.
Let's make an effort to get this going this year. Thanks!
Your classmates,
The Scholarship Committee of 1956
